Who Are We?
Our Story
This symposium is being produced and organized by the SAPH Committee (Student Association of Proletariat Humanitarians). This year, being 2020, is our first year coming together and organizing such an event. Our goal with this symposium is to highlight student voices while confronting hate with and in the humanities. Along with scholarly projects, creative and non-traditional projects of all kinds are welcomed. You are encouraged to challenge the current idea and function of the humanities as a discipline.

Our hope is that students are able to enter the world of presentation scholarship without feeling the pressure of having to present alongside professionals. Having a student-led symposium will eliminate the tension of undergraduate students feeling that they need to have as an articulate paper and presentation as someone with a doctorate. We believe that there is a mental barrier of entry at a University organized symposium that has to do with a feeling of worthiness. We would like to invite everyone who has an idea that they would love to present on concerning anything related to the humanities, EWU, or the local area to submit a formal or informal abstract and present here on our website!
